OB/GYN physicians complete multi-year residencies focused on the female reproductive system, which includes the breasts, making them well qualified to diagnose and manage breast concerns. Nurse practitioners and certified nurse-midwives who focus on women’s health also provide breast care and work closely with OB/GYNs.

At our practice, you have access to board-certified gynecologists and experienced nurse practitioners and midwives who work together to make sure nothing is overlooked.

When Should I Start Getting Mammograms?

For women at average risk, screening mammograms are generally recommended every one to two years beginning at age 40. Women with a strong family history, a known genetic mutation, or other risk factors may need to begin screening earlier or have additional imaging. Your provider will help you create a screening plan that fits your personal risk.

Does Health Insurance Cover Breast Health Services?

Many health insurance plans cover breast health services when they are medically necessary, and most cover screening mammograms as preventive care. Cosmetic procedures are covered less often.
