Patient Education FAQs
Where can I find your pregnancy handbook?
You can download our pregnancy handbook as a PDF from this page. Your provider will also review key topics with you during your prenatal visits.
Can I tour the hospital where I will deliver?
Yes. Swedish Medical Center offers a virtual tour and in-person hospital tours, along with childbirth and parenting classes. Links to both are on this page.
Are the ACOG resources reliable?
Yes. ACOG is the leading professional organization for OB/GYN physicians, and its patient materials are based on current medical evidence.
What nutrients are most important during pregnancy?
Folic acid, iron, calcium, and omega-3 fats from low-mercury fish are especially important. Our printable nutrition guides list good food sources, and your provider can recommend a prenatal vitamin.
How much caffeine is safe during pregnancy?
Most experts recommend limiting caffeine to about 200 mg per day during pregnancy. Our caffeine content guide can help you track common foods and drinks.
Should I rely on online information instead of seeing a provider?
No. Online resources are a helpful supplement, but your provider can give advice specific to your health. Schedule a visit or send a question through the patient portal.
Who can I contact with questions about what I read?
Call our office at (303) 788-0808 or message your care team through the patient portal.
